Diffwise Spreadsheet Compare

Compare two versions of a spreadsheet and get the full change list as an Excel file.

Diffwise Spreadsheet Compare compares two versions of a spreadsheet (CSV or Excel) and lists the differences: rows added, rows removed, and rows changed cell by cell with old and new values, the numeric change and the percent change. It finds the key column automatically (and says why), handles reordered rows, renamed and moved columns, total rows, number formats such as 1,200.00 vs 1200, and dates stored as text or as Excel serials. The full change set downloads as an Excel workbook and a CSV.

What it does

All added, removed and changed rows, with each changed cell shown old -> new, the change and the percent change
Automatic key column detection (unique, stable) with a visible explanation; pick your own key, or match rows by content when there is none
Renamed, moved, added and removed columns; key changes (a renumbered SKU) reported as one change
Normalization: spaces, upper/lower case, 1,200.00 vs 1200, European 1.234,56, dates as text or Excel serials, tolerance for rounding
Total and subtotal rows and repeated headers are excluded from the comparison and listed
Excel download with Summary, Changed (old/new side by side), Cell changes, Added, Removed and an annotated new version, plus a changes CSV

Limitations

CSV, TSV and Excel .xlsx only (save older .xls files as .xlsx)
One sheet per file per comparison, up to 50,000 rows each
Formulas are compared by their saved values, not the formula text
